If you’re like most people, you love your dog. For some dog owners, their pets are akin to children and are provided for much like a child. Their care goes beyond simply feeding the dog once a day. These pampered pets are taken everywhere and are often dressed to the nines.
The world of doggie fashion may seem absurd to most people, but it is taken very seriously by thousands of people across the country and around the world. In most cases, the dog clothes are made for small breeds; Chihuahuas, Poodles and Italian Greyhounds are among the most popular. However, nearly any size dog can have a designer outfit to call their own.
The most basic, and traditional piece of dog attire is of course, the collar. While most collars are fairly simple accessories, this is not always the case. A dog collar can be a fashion statement not only for the pet, but for the pet owner as well. A designer dog collar can incorporate anything from chrome to diamonds. Many human fashion designers offer custom collars that can cost thousands of dollars.
For most small dogs, maintaining a proper body temperature can be difficult when taken outside during periods of cold weather. Many dog clothes manufacturers sell a variety of different coats designed to keep your pet from catching a chill. Depending on the size of your dog and the particular designer you choose, these coats can range from just a few to several hundred dollars. The most expensive jackets are often made from the fur of some other animal, like lamb or chinchilla.
Every princess deserves a pretty dress, even if that princess is a real dog. Designer dresses are among the hottest selling items in the doggie couture world. With summer just around the corner, a breezy summer dress is sure to set your pet apart from the rest. Many a fashionista has spent hundreds of dollars to ensure that her little darling was properly adorned for the season.
Bedtime is the right time for pajamas. A truly pampered pet will have their own set of pajamas for relaxing around the house. These are often accompanied by a custom made doggie bathrobe. Many of these items can be found with matching versions for their owners as well, which just makes them that much more special.
For the sports fan/dog owner, dog clothes can be found sporting the logo of their favorite football, baseball, or basketball team; major league or collegiate. Many of these items are officially licensed from the team itself. From jerseys with a favorite player’s number to jackets and hats, there is something for every sports lover and their pet.
Not all dog clothes are designed for the skinny little lap dogs. Your Golden Retriever doesn’t have to have fashion envy anymore! Many doggie fashion designers have seen the light and realized that big dogs need love too. Nearly anything that can be found for the toys can be found for the working breeds as well.
