Durable dog toys provide entertainment and training for pets without forcing pet owners to purchase new toys each week. Along with saving time and money, they are also safer for the dog than regular dog toys. Bits and pieces of the toys are far less likely to break off and be swallowed or chocked on by the dog during play.
Determining the differences between durable dog toys and not-so-durable dog toys lies in understanding the right materials to look for. There are certain blended materials made exclusively by certain companies, which are guaranteed to last through even the most ferocious chewers. More simply, however, there are basic materials that are easily found and will last much longer and be much safer for the dog.
Toys containing fleece, plush and Vinyl come apart easily and should be avoided when searching for durable dog toys. Latex is more durable than vinyl because it has greater flexibility, but may still come apart with intense chewers. Rubber is the most durable material when it comes to dog toys. Hard rubbers, as well as nylon, are also safe for teething.
