Pet care is especially important during the summer. People and animals venture further during the warm months which can pose dangers to both. When traveling in a car never leave an animal inside when it is parked. Heat exhaustion, dehydration and even death can occur in only a matter of minutes. It is better to leave them at home, or always have them nearby.
Other pet care that should be a no-brainer but is often overlooked is putting animals in the back of trucks. It is okay if they are in a carrier which is secured to the truck, but an unsecured animal can be thrown from the truck or harmed by flying debris. Inside the cab is a much better and safer place, but they animal should be secured inside as well either in a crate or with a special seat belt harness.
During summer many people garden. Having pets around requires a little bit of pet care to keep them from eating fertilizers and harmful plants. There are over 700 different plants that are harmful to animals when ingested, many of these plants are common house and garden plants chosen for their beauty. Be careful what plants are around.
