A pet stroller can significantly help a pet’s recovery time from a surgery. If a dog has just had surgery on a leg, the hardest part of the recovery period is keeping the dog from straining that leg before it is healed. A stroller can be a great aid to this end. It allows you to be mobile with your dog without making it walk around.
The first pet strollers were for post op recovery; much like the cones you see that prevent a dog from scratching its ears after surgery. The less your pet uses a newly repaired limb in the days immediately following surgery the better off the recovery process will be. Eventually your pet will need to regain range of movement and the like, but at first rest for the injured area is the most important thing.
Since their medically inspired start, pet strollers have become a popular fashion item. While this is contrary to the healthy benefits in mind in a post op stroller, fashion strollers allow owners to make a statement and pander to their pet. They let the pet go with them just about anywhere because it’s in a stroller like a baby, not on a leash like a pet. If this is your intent with pet strollers, that is well and good, but you should be aware of where the concept originated and how far afield it has strayed since inception.
